Night guards may be recommended for patients who are experiencing headaches, sore, and stiff jaws that may be caused by teeth grinding or clenching.
Creating custom fitted guards typically involves two appointments. During the first appointment, a mold is made to take an impression of your teeth. The models of your teeth are then sent to a lab to have the guard custom-made. At the second appointment, the guard is fitted to ensure full coverage, a snug fit, and general comfort in wearing.
We offer mouth guards for patients as young as 5 years old. Since many sports require the use of a mouth guard to ensure the safety of your teeth, we recommend that they have a good-fitting mouth guard.
While generic mouth guards are available for purchase at most sports retail stores and/or pharmacies, they may not properly conform to your teeth and may prove less effective and comfortable than a custom-made guard.
